My Looks

Navy Day

I’ve already written about what I’d wear to a formal holiday event

And what I wore to Kendrick’s office party

And offered up my suggestions for holiday style must-haves

So now let’s talk easy and practical (but still festive!) style solutions for a chilled-out holiday celebration.

What I wore for lunch with friends followed by some holiday toasting over at a neighbor’s place: a little silk, a little knit, and a lot of cozy. Deep navy and sparkle, to keep the look wintry and festive, and a few hints of brown to make the whole thing a bit more casual.

The best part of this look, to me, is the fact that it lets me wear two go-to pieces – a silky (and inexpensive – this one is just $34) minidress that I usually wear solo and a chunky turtleneck that I always pair with jeans – in an unexpected way. When you’re short on time but still want to play around with your holiday look, it’s all about shopping your closet.

Oh yes: and accessories. Like a luxurious brown leather bag…

Drop-dead crystal earrings…

And a pair of totally unique – and comfortable, believe it or not – booties.

On me: Geometric Print Dress c/o H.C.B., Juicy Couture Cora Turtleneck, Hanes Blackout Tights, Timo Weiland for TSUBO booties, Coupertina bag (also available in green) c/o George Gina & Lucy.

P.S. Have to head straight to an evening party from work?

A pretty minidress in a graphic print makes for the easiest day-to-night solution ever. Just exchange the sweater for a cardigan, throw on a pair of gold pumps (those are Coye Nokes), add a gold clutch, and go.
