Sleeveless Holiday Style

It’s party time!

There’s nothing like the holidays when it comes to dressing up, and if you’re anything like me, your choice of attire is dictated by the number on the thermostat…not at all.

I mean, I love (and rarely get to wear) sparkly, dramatic, and preferably shoulder-baring numbers, and this is the perfect time of year to break them out. I mean, hey, that’s what a coat is for. Right?

As an example, here’s what I’m planning to wear for a big night out this holiday season: the one-shoulder stunner from Yigal Azrouel (via Rent The Runway) pictured above with a Brahmin clutch (the sunglasses obviously come off once the sun sets).

Why I love this look: the colors are understated and elegant (save for that bright blue belt), the shape is timeless, and the fact that it’s billowy on the bottom but sleeveless on top is dramatic, fun, and confidence-boosting.

Speaking of confidence, here’s a statistic for you: 57% of women agree that you need to feel confident to happily pull off a wintertime sleeveless look. So: here’s what I use to stay feeling great while going sans sleeves in the cold months:

1. Light arm weights, with which I do 4 repetitions of 10 curls every day. I’m totally kidding. But I hear that it’s a good idea.

2. Dove Go Sleeveless Soothing Chamomile Anti-Perspirant/Deodorant. I mentioned this product (which has now achieved Staple Status in my daily personal care routine) a couple of weeks ago, but it deserves a re-visit for the gorgeous scent, 48 hours of protection, and the fact that it’s clinically proven to soothe shaving irritation and provide softer, smoother underarms in just 5 days with Vitamins E and F plus Dove ¼ moisturizers. Who wants irritated underarms when swanning around in glamorous, sleeveless holiday dresses? Not me.

3. O’Keeffe’s Working Hands. It’s a heavy (heavy) duty moisturizer that’s great for solving the Dry Elbow Problem, if you (like me) turn into an armadillo in the wintertime.

4. An elaborate pair of earrings, like the pair from Swati Jr* I’m wearing in this post or the Alexis Bittar pair pictured above. If you’re baring your shoulders for the holiday season, it’s a great way to add a little extra dose of glamour.
