The nail color I’m into right now: a kinda dusty mauve shade that’s a little on the “lilac” side of pink and feels very old lady-ish to me, in a good way (meaning, I suppose, an antique-teacups-with-little-rosettes-on-them way).

Now, this color isn’t exactly a “trend” – more like “a color I think is pretty and feel like wearing right now”…so let’s move on to a few more right-this-moment looks that I’m excited about. (Mostly, I’m excited that we appear to have collectively moved on from that crazy nail art trend that did very little for me other than cluttering up my Pinterest boards and making me feel inadequate for the past year.)
Gunmetal Grey: I do not have gorgeous, long, tapered nails and will not have them anytime soon (because as pretty as they are, long pointy nails are not an especially good combo with diaper changes and also not something I’m biologically capable of growing). But if you do? Please paint them gunmetal grey. It is so lovely.

Nearly Nude. Rather than a girly sheer pink or white, go for a slightly more opaque shade that matches your skin tone or has slightly grey undertones (did you know that greyish-beige actually has its own name, and that is “greige”? True story).

Major Metallic: Worn on short nails with chunky rings in a contrasting metal, allover gold suddenly looks more simply chic than showgirl. Bonus: thanks to their light-reflecting properties, shimmery golds won’t show chips as easily, so you can stretch out your mani an extra couple of days.

Cloudy Blue: Just picture a big, cozy sweater, jeans, and this on your nails. And then visualize yourself, I don’t know…picking apples or carving pumpkins or something. Isn’t that pretty? I’ve just never seen a color quite like this, and wanted to show it to you.
