At last night’s Women in Tech-Media event at J.P. Morgan, with (L to R) Dorothy McGivney, founder of Jauntsetter, Jennifer Hyman, CEO of Rent the Runway, and Tammy Tibbetts, founder of She’s the First. It was a wonderful, inspiring event, and I was so honored to be seated on a panel alongside these incredible women. The topics covered included the logistics of blogging as a profession, the dearth of women in the technology industry, the risks associated with a career in tech-media, and this fascinating Newsweek article that contends that “digital distractions” have created an environment in which “We’re not thinking. We’re processing. We’re putting our brains into neutral, and revving the engine.”
My favorite part was the post-panel meet-and-greet, during which I had the opportunity to say hi to a bunch of readers, including Lauren and Laura (pictured above). Reader Molly of Wandering & Pondering wrote up a lovely recap that I encourage you to check out. Thanks so much to all of you who came to the event and shared your experiences with me.
Special thanks to Neha Chauhan of My Social Impact, who organized and moderated the panel.
