I came to Canada prepared for chilly temperatures. The weather where my family lives (in New Brunswick) is sorta like California in the summer – warm to blisteringly hot during the day, but breezy and chilly once the sun drops. So: a perfect opportunity to break out some of the first few fall pieces I’ve been looking forward to getting back into, like cozy striped tops and bellbottoms.
This outfit, or something like it, is pretty much all-day, every-day for me from September through April: neutral colors, loose top, comfortable pants (these have an elastic waistband), and fun accessories.
One of my favorite things about the end of summer is that you can find lots of great “summer” pieces that are majorly on sale…and yet look great with fall fashions. Case in point: this rope-and-metal Lizzie Fortunato necklace from Thomas Laine.
More Lizzie Fortunato pieces that are presently on sale, and would look gorgeous in the fall: Noble Surfer; Sunshine Coast.
If you follow me on Twitter, you may have seen me do a little crowd-sourcing last Friday for the perfect blackberry gloss. Various products were recommended to me, including Clinique’s Black Honey lipstick (which I love, but is sheerer than what I was looking for) and NARS Velvet Matte pencils (which are beautifully textured, but still not quite as dark as I was hoping to go). Anyway, I stopped into Sephora on my way to the airport, and success! Dior Addict Ultra Gloss in Black-Tie Plum is exactly what I was looking for: a deep purple gloss with a touch of sparkle that’s dramatic when applied from the tube and transforms int o a subtle stain after a little blotting.
On me: Cabin Top c/o d.RA; Urban Outfitters sunglasses, necklace c/o Thomas Laine, semi-ancient Free People bellbottoms, Foley & Corinna leather fringe belt, Nine West heels.
