Despite an oncoming head cold (seriously?!), this was one of the nicest, most relaxing weekends I’ve had in awhile.
I spent a lot of it perched on the couch watching bad movies (Wesley Snipes in Drop Zone, anyone? …Anyone?) and making invitations for my friend Thomasin’s upcoming bridal shower (she knows about it; not ruining any surprise by posting here!). I wanted invites that could be done quickly (the bridal shower is soon enough that we don’t have time to get printed ones) and that evoked her wedding’s rustic, bohemian feel. I found the few simple things I needed at Kate’s Paperie:
– Pretty cardstock and envelopes (comes in zillions of colors)
– Martha Stewart Crafts Floral Confetti
– Silver star stickers (one for invitation, one to seal envelope)
– Gelly Roll Metallic gold pen
Other Goings-On:
On Friday night, Morgan and I attended the student-produced LIM fashion show at Roseland. The look on the right was my favorite; that color!
At the fashion show, Morgan convinced me to do something completely insane with her the next day:
Get up at 7AM to meet her at the park for some off-leash dog action. As you can see, I was psyched.
I tried this leash splitter again (didn’t work so well last time; Virgil just basically dragged Lucy around like a tiny, fluffy purse), with much more success.
The walk over to the park was freezing…but I perked up once I got there and saw how much Lucy and Virgil loved being off-leash around Cooper and the rest of their buddies (a LOT, mostly because of the mud).
Saturday afternoon, Mom came over with tulips to help me figure out how to fit an entire extra person and his or her associated things into our apartment. Basically, what needs to happen is that we need to prioritize storage space (in which our apartment is sorely lacking) and replace some of the decorative pieces in our kitchen with more practical, drawer-containing furniture (like this Ikea Varde kitchen cabinet).
This means that we’re giving away my much-loved rehabbed De La Vega-tagged cabinet (you can see the corner in the above photo, and a video of the rehabbing process here)…so if you want it, let me know (jordan@ramshackleglam.com)!
For dinner, I made Slow-Cooked BBQ Pulled Pork, sweet potatoes, and asparagus. YUM. And easy easy easy.
Sunday was wholly unphotogenic, but included a trip to Barnes & Noble to browse the kids’ section and jot down all our top must-haves (they include Toulouse the Chocolate Moose, Madeline, The Story of Baby Divine by Bette Midler, Angelina Ballerina, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and D’Aulaire’s Book of Greek Myths) and a screening of Source Code (really not-so-good script, but totally fun).
And pickles. And Yodels. And strawberries.
Hope your weekend was fantastic as well!
