We spent all day Saturday finishing up with the Christmas decorations (hanging stockings on the staircase, trying semi-successfully to keep our dogs and child from completely destroying the ornaments, that kind of thing). More on that – plus a really fun contest and giveaway – coming up shortly!
On Sunday, we drove into the city for errands and visits. First stop: brunch at Southern Hospitality (so good, respectably priced, and includes a fantastic live show by a bluegrass band).
This photo goes in my Hall of Fame for All-Time Favorite Pictures. So much proud.
Thanks to my parents’ desire for a little solo time with their grandson, we spent the afternoon drinking picklebacks at The Penrose with two people who we saw pretty much every day for a good two and a half years, and miss so much.
After The Penrose, we swung by Stephen and Dave’s apartment – which is situated directly below our old apartment (like, their-ceiling-was-our-floor below) – and were hit with a mini whammy of good-times-were-had-here nostalgia in the hallway.
An afternoon spent wrangling strollers in the rain and smashing my face into some random guy’s back on the 6 train left me more on board with our decision to move out of the city than ever, but still: it’s nice to go back once in awhile, and remember why you loved where you used to be, too.
