There are some things that you rarely use, but are just super cool to own.
Like, say, a black, floor-length beaded gown that’s really better-suited to the Oscars than anything that your real life actually involves, but that you found about a decade ago on Fifth Avenue for 80% off because some beads down near the hemline were missing and thought, “hey.”
Or a bedazzled mask.
Sometimes occasions arise – like Old Hollywood-themed Eileen Fisher Foundation masquerade balls to benefit the YMCA – where you need such things. And when they do, it’s really nice to just have what you need sitting right there in your closet, all spectacular and just-your-size and everything.
(Can you tell I was feeling glamorous?)
Kendrick and I were speaking to kick off the open-donation portion of the auction and didn’t go on until 11PM, so we spent the bulk of the evening looking over our notes and being a little nervous, but managed to make it quite the excellent Date Night anyway. Dancing, champagne, oysters, rolling in close to 1AM, all that.
On me: Sophie Sitbon gown; Vivo Occhalino mask (you can use code FASHION at checkout for 15% off of your order).
P.S. I used this tutorial for Retro Glam waves to do my hair, if you’ve got an Old Hollywood-themed night in your own future.
