Yesterday’s Theia Resort 2012 Presentation (hosted by Creative Director Don O’Neill) coincided with the Summer Solstice that inspired the pieces (the line is named for the Greek goddess of light).
Featuring ocean-blues, Bora-Bora blossoms, and tons of sparkle (the dress pictured above is adorned with over a million sequins), the collection also incorporates unconventional elements like Lurex (!), light-as-air silk and poly-metal blends (one floor-length gold dress weighed less than an ounce), and painted-on florals. I spotted lots of garden-party (or afternoon wedding) picks, but the showstoppers were the flowy evening creations in orchid and white.
Some of my favorite pieces from the collection:
Another wedding-perfect stunner:
And finally, here’s one of the Lurex dresses (and a hand):
You should see this dress in person – the blue is the dominant color, of course, but as the light catches the dress in different ways you catch glimpses of purple, pink, and gold. Gorgeous.
