Fun fact of the day: this awesome cover of “Gin & Juice” is by a bluegrass band from Texas called The Gourds. It’s the song that the band is most famous for, but they didn’t write it (a little-known rapper called Snoop Dogg did), and they’ve never been properly credited for their cover.
Depending on who you ask, there was either a snafu with the original Napster listing, attributing the song to Phish (probably because Snoop Dogg wrote the original version in collaboration with a NYC hip-hop artist named Phish), or the band credited the song to everyone from Phish to Blues Traveler in order to get more attention/airplay (I believe the former version). Oh, and Kendrick’s college a capella group covered it and sings it at any and all reunion-type events, which means listening to it brings back sort of fond, raucous, beer-hazy memories.
