This meal - inspired by a Jamie Oliver recipe - was one of my favorites to make during that semester in London because it was perfect pre-(or post-) pub food.

Q. Hello Jordan.
I have been meaning to e-mail you a thank you for all the great recommendations for our girls NYC weekend...I am visiting my friend in London on Wednesday so if you have any recommendations for places to see, eat, shop, please forward!
Very Warmly,
K from Chi-town
At Selfridges, I discovered the (slightly unfortunately named) Vom Fass stand, which I thought was an inspired gift idea.
First, you sample their extensive collection of oils, vinegars, wines, and spirits, which includes unusual options like porcino oil and blueberry liqueur with grappa (that’s what I’m sampling above). Next, you select a bottle (which can be personalized) from a wide range of styles and sizes, which is filled with your selection. You’re welcome to keep the bottle and come back to have it refilled for a moderate price.
While Vom Fass products are only currently available in the U.K., I love the idea of bottling house-made oils and liqueurs. Why not try bottling up some pineapple vodka infusions for your loved ones this Christmas?

Sunset in Hyde Park on my last full day in England.
After spending a few too many hours being lost, I sought refuge in a pub where I met this handsome fellow, Boris. Yes, dogs are allowed in bars (even ones that serve food). I miss Lucy.
It seems that everywhere I go in London I am met with a proliferation of cupcakes; the entire city, it appears, is gripped by cupcake mania. I was repeatedly told that the very best place to go when struck by a cupcake craving is The Hummingbird Bakery, on Portobello Road (get the red velvet).
When I arrived in London, I gave Parisa and Tim a cookbook and some Godiva truffles, but wanted to find them something really special that they could use around the house. When we stopped into Ceramica Blue on Saturday they both seemed to really like this olive wood board (which can be used for cheeses, charcuterie, etc), so on Monday I went back and bought it for them as a thank-you for a truly amazing, unforgettable time.
In between bouts of being lost, I located Portobello Road, where I spent a lovely hour exploring antique shops. I absolutely adored the pink-and-gold chair…but feared that it just might be a little much. And a little tough to get into my suitcase.
