On Saturday morning, Kendrick and I headed upstate to Irvington, in the Hudson Valley, for a sort of half-day-trip/half-tentative-house-hunting-trip. Ever since I was little I've sort of fantasized about living in the Hudson Valley one day. But I never really took it seriously, because...you know, can't take the city girl out of the city, etc etc.
On Saturday morning (well, a bit more on the side of noon), Kendrick told me to get dressed to go out for the day, but refused to tell me where we were headed. Three trains later, we were wandering around the Village on a perfect autumn afternoon.
I've been going to Chester for about twenty years now, and it sits alongside Nyack and Cold Spring as one of my top three NYC day trips.
On Saturday, we took the Easiest Ever day trip up to Cold Spring.
We spent the weekend in Bear Mountain for my high school best friend Cynthia's wedding, with stopovers each way in Nyack (one of my favorite day trips).
