I first discovered X-Rated last February, and ever since then it's been my go-to mix-in whenever I want just a little extra kick in my drink...

Let’s Get Moving On That Holiday Cheer Thing / Mulled Wine, My Way
Mulled wine is up there with my favorite beverages to enjoy once the weather starts to turn. And sure, it's best drunk from a paper cup clasped between your mittened hands while you wander around a farmstand, but it's also quite good when you're snuggled up on a couch with a touch of a cold and '90s movies on a steady loop.
Happy Sake Day!
Yes...it's officially International Sake Day (aren't you glad you now know this holiday exists?). And to celebrate, I headed over to TY KU's offices in midtown yesterday evening for a little taste-testing and sake bombing.
Cipriani / Bellinis
Wednesday Happy Hour at Cipriani in Grand Central - sister restaurant to the birthplace of the Bellini - with Nadine Jolie. Go HERE to learn how to make these delicious things (by which I mean Bellinis, not Nadine Jolies) yourself.
Red Wine Jell-O
When it comes to Jell-O, I suppose this is pretty much as refined as it gets...which is to say, not very refined at all. But fun!
Fun With Jell-O / Jell-O Is Always Fun
When I was little, my grandma used to make strawberry Jell-O with banana slices floating in it, and that's still my go-to classic...but there are lots and lots of interesting twists you can put on the stuff (most of which don't involve shrimp or cabbage...yikes).
Strawberry-Infused Tequila
I love making fruit infusions (they make excellent DIY gifts), and strawberry-infused tequila is a simple, delicious way to use up the last of the summer's strawberries.
Try This Thursday / But Every Day, Really
I know, I know...it's Thursday. But this particular Try This Tuesday just felt like the perfect kickoff to the last official weekend of summer.
Fabulous Wine Find / Labrusca Sparkling Red
The other night I stopped in to pick up a bottle of Vinho Verde, and was coerced (it was tough) into trying Labrusca's lightly sparkling Rosso Secco ($16.95; there's also a Bianco). A sparkling red...sort of weird, right?
Oh, Doctor Guava Sangria
I cobbled together this recipe based more or less on whatever I had in my refrigerator already (I ran out to the store for guava juice and strawberries, because I think it's inexcusable not to include those two ingredients in summer sangrias), and it is perfection in a glass (or, in this case, Mason jar).
