Sleeveless Style

Did you know that more than half of U.S. women will be going sleeveless this winter? It’s true. That’s an official statistic. From official people.

I wear sleeveless styles, especially in the evenings, all year ’round: I think the look is elegant and feminine, and honestly? I love my tattoo, and I like wearing things that leave it visible. Yeah, I know, it’s kind of a mess – the tattoo artist wasn’t the greatest – but I love it even more because of its imperfections; it reminds me of a very specific time in my life, and all the ways that things have changed since then.

One thing about going sleeveless in the wintertime, though, is the whole “winter beauty” issue. When it’s freezing outside, it’s easy to get…a little lazy. Pedicures? No. Leg-moisturizing? Ehhh. I mean, I know I should do those things…but…it’s cold outside. And I’m wearing pajamas. And socks. And putting on moisturizer and nail polish requires taking those things off.

Staying sleeveless-attire-ready, though, is another story, and something I’m diligent about no matter the month. Three products that make the whole shoulder-showing thing easier:

– Bobbi Brown’s Shimmerbrick Compact. It’s great for highlighting cheeks and eyelids, but I also use a large brush to lightly dust it on my shoulders when I’m headed out for the evening.

– Dove’s Soothing Chamomile Anti-Perspirant/Deodorant. I’ve used Dove’s deodorants exclusively ever since I can remember, and this brand-new product proves 48-hour protection, a lovely citrus and lily-of-the-valley scent, and confidence-boosting smoothness (thanks to Vitamins E and F). It also soothes irritation. And leaves zero residue. It’s fantastic.

– A single gold bangle (the one pictured above is by Ippolita). Gold warms up winter-pale skin beautifully, and I love the addition of clear quartz for some sparkle to match the snow.
