You know, a couple of years ago when Kendrick and I started talking about fleeing the city for somewhere where we could potentially own a yard and more than one bedroom, we briefly tossed around the idea of Miami. He’d spent a bunch of time in the city while on tour and loved it, and two of our best friends live there already, and…
I mean: it’s Miami.
It’s really pretty here.
Aside from the fact that something about the water makes my hair feel like hay and the hotel Internet is circa 1998…it’s kind of perfect. I mean, I have seen three different people wandering around wearing full-on sequin dresses in the middle of the day. Anywhere you can pull off sparkles at high noon is a place that I’m going to be pretty happy in.
I’m here with the team from Meredith (the same group who produced Jordan In The House) to shoot three Spring/Summer looks at the Miami Yacht Show. Obviously they had to twist my arm pretty hard to convince me to come along on this one.
Miserable work. Miserable.
All three shoots feature Crocs sandals from their Spring/Summer line – and I know: Crocs? But look!
Those are not what I expected to find awaiting me in wardrobe. (These are the Huarache Mini Wedges, based on a hand-woven shoe that was popular in 1930s Mexico, and are the most comfortable things ever in addition to being very cute. They’re not out yet, but will be available in March.)
In addition to the Huarache wedges, my first look featured a lace blouse from LOFT, DIY-ed denim cutoffs, and my much-adored horn necklace.
And a side ponytail, mostly because we had some gale-force winds happening on the top level of that yacht, and a side pony was the only way to keep my hair from standing straight up and/or completely concealing the entirety of my face.
For look #2 I went for simple black-and-white with nautical accents (that’s a Juicy Couture bracelet).
I don’t know how to explain this expression other than that it was the very last shot of the day, and I think I may have been attempting to generate a “wistfully staring off into the horizon” effect…but ended up mostly just looking grumpy.
Summary: this is pretty much the best work trip ever. I’ll post the videos here once they’re up, but in the meantime you can head over to Crocs’ FB page for more behind-the-scenes photos.
