Spring Will Arrive, Even If I Have To Drag It Here Kicking And Screaming

And if what I have to do to make this happen is wear shorts in fifty-degree, slightly overcast weather…well, so be it. The power of positive thinking and all that jazz.

This blouse is one of my favorite pieces in my closet. I think I picked it up at the Salvation Army years and years ago for about fifty cents – it’s label-free, light, loose, and can be dressed either up or down. On the bottom are J Brand stretch jeans that I picked up at last year’s clothing swap and cut into shorts in a fit of summerizing last week.

The fun thing about springtime fashion is that you can wear all the casual, summer-y stuff that you’re getting excited about…and then do it up with major accessories, because it’s not yet too steamy out for a bit of glamour. Case in point: that to-die-for Ralston Cindy bag, which was sent over to me by the company to try my hand at styling – ! – and is a perfect blend of structure and…zebra stripes. Rounding out the Fabulous Accessories department: my trusty Tom Ford sunglasses (eBay-ed), favorite Juno pumps (sample sale-d)…

…and this DKNY necklace, which was a birthday present from Dad ten-ish years ago and still goes with everything.

See? The accessories step up what would otherwise be a super-casual look and make it drinks-with-friends or date-appropriate (just add some self tanner until the sun shows up in earnest).

On me: Vintage blouse, J.Brand stretch jeans cut into shorts; DKNY necklace; Olsenboye leather woven belt; Rosette bracelet c/o Tuleste Market; Tom Ford sunglasses; Cindy Zebra handbag c/o Ralston; Juno heels.
