There are many wonderful things about being pregnant. Not everyone loves the expectant state, but I actually enjoy it, to the point where even though I think we’re probably good with two kids, I’m definitely a little sad about the idea of never being pregnant again.
What I enjoy slightly less: being pregnant in the summertime and wistfully gazing at all the rose that is being drunk all around me by friends and family, and of which I cannot partake (except for sips – which were taken, believe you me).
Rose is really good.
But you know what’s even BETTER?
SPARKLING ROSE SANGRIA.
Oh my god, am I ever happy that it’s still sort of summery-ish outside and not entirely inappropriate sparkling rose sangria-drinking weather. You have to try this one.
What You Need (makes 1 large pitcher):
1 bottle rose (I used a 1.5L bottle of La Vieille Ferme because I was making this for a party; if you’d like to do the same just double all the other ingredients below except for the fruit)
1 cup fresh grapefruit juice
1 shot of brandy
1 orange, sliced
1 lemon, sliced
1 green apple, sliced
Sparkling wine or lemon-lime soda
What You Do:
1. In a large pitcher, combine wine, brandy, fruit juice, and sliced fruit. Allow to sit at least 4 hours to allow flavors to combine.
2. To serve, pour over ice and top with about half an inch of either sparkling wine or lemon-lime soda.
