I’ve owned this dress for a couple of years now, and I love it so much, and yet this is the second time I have ever worn it. Because while I’m usually all for wearing whatever you want wherever you want, and generally pay very little attention to things like dress codes and occasions…this dress is pretty specific. It kind of demands to be worn in close proximity to palm trees.
It’s such a romantic dress, but also surprisingly easy – almost like wearing nothing at all – which meant I wanted to keep the rest of the look simple: gold hoops, Grecian-inspired jelly sandals that are both the most comfortable things ever and super cute (they were my favorites all summer long last year, and it looks like this year will be the same), and my very stylish Club Med wristband. That’s it.
For makeup, I went for next-to-nothing on my skin (just lots of moisturizer and a little blush on my cheeks) with majorly bright eyelids; I love the contrast between a dramatic eye, a bare face and a messy updo, sort of like you were halfway towards being “ready” to go out but then just decided, eh, whatever, let’s just leave now.
On my eyes: the brand-new (not even in stores yet) Electric Palette from Urban Decay. I partnered up with the brand for the launch, and will be able to reveal the photos we shot for the campaign in just a few days, but in the meantime, let me just say: having this palette laying around has for-real revolutionized my approach to eye makeup. I’ve never really ventured into the land of brights, and I am loving it, and finding myself using them not to make a huge statement, but just because. For fun.
Which is kind of the whole point of makeup, no?
