Here is me in exercise clothing. I am fairly certain that this is the only photograph I have of myself in exercise clothing, and it is from 2012. Which bodes poorly for what I am about to tell you.
OK, so this is either going to be one of the best days of my life, or a total disaster.
You guys.
YOU GUYS.
I am doing Mudderella.
I mentioned this a couple of weeks ago, but it deserves its own post, because I seriously cannot think of a less-me thing to do than Mudderella…and yet…
I am.
If you don’t know what Mudderella is (because I didn’t, up until about three weeks ago), it’s essentially a 5-7 mile obstacle course (!) designed by women for women. The purpose of the event is to push you to your limits, but minus the “who gets there first” element: it’s about working together and celebrating friendship and giving you an opportunity to see how strong you are.
I think…I mean, okay, let’s just say that “strong” is not high on the list of adjectives I would ascribe to myself. So this should be somewhere on the spectrum between “interesting” (if we’re being generous) and “transformative” (if we’re being extremely optimistic). I’m going to be running (obstacle-ing? what do you call this?) on behalf of Team St. Ives; the face & body brand is sponsoring the race to encourage women to fill their life with awesome, out-of-the-box experiences (and to provide warm shower stations to help participants de-mud after the whole thing is over, yay), and so what we need to talk about first is what, exactly, I am putting on my body that will need to be washed off later. I just acquired a bunch of flash tattoos and face paint, so any and all suggestions for self-decoration for this kind of thing are extremely welcome.
Also: I strongarmed Morgan into joining me because if I am going to slide into mud pits, she is going to slide into mud pits. And a couple of nights ago she emailed me:
“Ummm…have you watched the video?”
I hadn’t. So then I did, and:
Oh my god.
Oh my GOD.
Mud tunnels.
MUD TUNNELS.
P.S. For those of you in Northern California, the event is this Saturday in Vallejo; please let me know if you’re planning to go so we can meet up and…I don’t know, paint each other’s faces or some such. And if you’re not in the area, click here for a list of other event locations in the coming months (and remember that you can run to support your favorite charity).
(Oh my god.)
