Last night, I met reader Natasha for some heart-to-hearting and fantastic ramen at Menkui Tei. Natasha is working her way through NY Mag’s “Fifty of the City’s Tastiest Soups” list, and this was her 21st stop. NY Mag recommends the Tan-Tan Ramen, which is topped with chile-infused ground pork, but since spicy is not my friend, I chose the Shio (salt-flavored) Ramen ($8) and topped it off with a boiled egg ($1.50 extra), just ’cause. It was simple, comforting, and generously portioned: I will be back once the weather turns cold.
Decor, meh. Sapporo, excellent. Company, absolutely lovely. Ramen, up there in unparalleled.
See? Growwwl.
