Talk about a magical night.
To celebrate the launch of several new scents from eco-luxe brand Caldrea – Basil Blue Sage, Lavender Pine, Ginger Pomelo, and Pear Blossom Agave – the rooftop at Gramercy Park was transformed into what I can only describe as a wonderland. We’re talking jewelbox rooms filled with rose blossoms, lavender vines trailing from ceilings, palm trees filled with fairy lights arching overhead, and guests wandering through it all with blossom wreaths twined through their hair.
I think I first wrote about Caldrea way back in 2011, when my son was born and I discovered their Sweet Pea room spray. More than three years later, it continues to be the scent I use in his room (and my own); it basically smells like all things light and fresh – and the rest of the line is more of the same. Elegant and sophisticated home fragrances and body care products, with unique twists on traditional scents like lavender and rose – plus totally original offerings like Aloe Water Apricot and Rosewater Driftwood (ooh).
Some handy room-by-room fragrance suggestions, if you aren’t sure where to start when it comes to selecting your scent:
Bedroom: In the bedroom, florals and musky, romantic scents set the atmosphere – and sleep-promoting lavender is always a great pick. Try: Rosewater Driftwood; Lavender Pine; Sweet Pea (technically for the nursery, but I’m telling you: it’s unbelievable, and you need to try it).
Bathroom: Since the bathroom is a small space and not one people spend a ton of time in, it’s a fun place to experiment with offbeat scents. Try: Crimson Pear Ginger.
Living Room: The living room is a good spot for seasonal scents and spicy, masculine picks. Try: Black Coriander Lime; Lavender Pine; Sea Salt Neroli.
Office: To keep your mind moving, go for lively, citrusy scents. Try: Ginger Pomelo; Mandarin Vetiver.
Kitchen: You don’t want the scent you choose to overpower (or contrast too strongly with) the food, so go for light, herbal and vegetable-inspired fragrances. Try: Basil Blue Sage; Juniper Laurel Mint.

P.S. The Caldrea blog is stunning and a must-see, with aperitifs, tables cape ideas and more inspired by the different virtual “gardens” that you can unlock. Seriously beautiful stuff.
Caldrea is a sponsor of Ramshackle Glam; as always, my opinions remain my own.
