You know that piece hanging around your closet that's completely fabulous, and that you never, ever wear because you can't figure out for the life of you how to wear it? And even if you did…you have nowhere to wear it to?
For me, that's these leather pants. I mean, they're skintight. And high-waisted. And BLUE. All of these qualities make them not exactly the kind of thing I reach for on your average Tuesday. But since I haven't been getting out much lately (newborn, et cetera), I've been taking every chance I have to actually get dressed to really get dressed. The kind of "get dressed" that just may involve skintight, high-waisted, blue leather pants.
And something else I've learned about those weird pieces that feel unwearable: you have to just wear them. Just put them on, acknowledge that you might get a few stares, and get over it. I wasn't sure quite what to wear with these pants…but then I came across a leotard in my drawer that I think last saw the light of day when I was in high school, and thought "Hmm. That's a little Olivia Newton John-y.
…And that's a wrap on that.

Q. OK @ramshackleglam, so I have about 262,728 scarves...how in god's name do I store them?! They're always a mess on my closet floor! Help!

A. Ah, one of my favorite topics: excessive accessory ownership!
Over the past couple of days I've been scrolling back through my pregnancy style posts (both from this year and from 2011), and while I think I dressed pretty differently for Take 1 and Take 2 mostly because my style has changed a bit over the past couple of years, one thing was consistent: I never, ever wanted to not look (and feel) like myself. I love baby-doll maxi dresses and wrap dresses and other similarly traditional "maternity" cuts when I see them on other expecting women…but on me? I just don't feel quite right unless I'm wearing something that I'd totally wear whether waiting-on-a-baby or not, so what I gravitate towards are the same slouchy tops and skinny bottoms that form the basis of my "regular" wardrobe.
Take, for example, this outfit. While it works for late-third-trimester (less than three weeks to go!), it's still something I can easily see myself wearing two months from now. Even though those jeans are technically maternity jeans, complete with Secret Fit Belly (which is the BEST)…I can virtually promise that you'll see them post-birth, because I am obsessed.
Obsessed.

There's a lot going on right now.
Kendrick leaves this weekend (I'm not leaving for another couple of weeks), so we've spent the past three days on the phone pretty much constantly, trying to iron out details. I knew it would be stressful, but it's been interesting to me what aspects of this have stressed me out the most. I'm not especially worried about our living situation, for example: I figure if we all have beds and there is a coffee machine present, we're good. But I expected to be relatively laid-back about finding a doctor and a place to deliver - wouldn't I just end up going with whatever practice was closest to our apartment? - and…I'm not.

A few RG readers have emailed me over the past couple of weeks to say that they tried my DIY Distressed Denim tutorial and loved the results - yay! I think you should try it, too: way cheaper than buying a ready-made distressed pair and a great way to update a pair of skinnies or boyfriend jeans that you never wear.
Such a sweet review of Ramshackle Glam over on Lovely At Your Side; thank you, Olivia!
Q. Hi Jordan!
I am going to DisneyWorld in May and I wanted your opinion on cute but comfortable things to wear. I am specifically wondering about shoes - I don't think my regular sandals will cut it for walking around all day. Are Crocs sandals comfortable for longer wear? Should I just go for sneakers?
Thanks,
Amanda
:) Starting a new project! (I was going to hold off a few more weeks to start so I could do either a pink or a blue explosion, but I fell so in love with this rainbow wool - mine is #7824 - that I couldn't wait.) Want to knit along with me? This is a fun, easy pattern.
:) Looking for an awesome, classic everyday watch for an also-awesome price? Here you go.
:) Kendrick told me a couple of days ago that when I am pregnant, I am like the nice and evil Gollums having a conversation with themselves. That sounds about right.
Can't stop eating this lasagna. (Recipe coming up on RG next week.)
I spent the holidays binge-watching the entirety of Orange Is The New Black. It is so good. I may try to get into Homeland next if I can get past the fact that it looks incredibly boring (I know, I know: it isn't. It just looks boring).
