I know, a flat-iron doesn't sound like it makes much sense to use if you want to create...well, curls - but that's the reason they're so imperfect and undone-looking.

Turquoise Sunset
I know that camel and grey are an unusual color combo...but I think there's just something so soft and pretty about the pairing - like you were just lounging around the house, Michelle-Pfeiffer-in-the-Hamptons-style, and then threw on a few great accessories moments before heading out the door to do something fabulous.
John Sahag Blonding / Camera In Front of My Face
I generally don't enjoy going up to random people and asking them to take my picture. Sure, I'll ask Kendrick, or a close friend, but otherwise I generally find this an odd, embarrassing (if sometimes necessary) thing to do. But I did want to share a couple of the cool tips I learned at the John Sahag Workshop yesterday with you...so: this photo series also stars my trusty Canon.
Good To Know / Salty Water Hair Care
I'm going to be all about the beachin' in weeks to come (headed to Mexico with Nadine for a press trip, then Morgan's wedding in San Diego, then - fingers crossed - some kind of sun/sand/happiness-related activity every weekend thereafter with Kendrick), so before departing the John Sahag Workshop I asked Doug how to protect my brand-new Keratin treatment from the ravages of salt water.
At the John Sahag Workshop yesterday afternoon with the man who singlehandedly saved my locks, Doug Macintosh. It’s been six months since my last Keratin treatment, and I was definitely due for a touch-up (they last 3-5 months).
Keratin is literally the best beauty treatment I have ever gotten (and that includes eyelash extensions from Ebenezer in Koreatown, which I got before my wedding and are pretty damn great). I shot some video at the salon so you can see how it works, which I’ll post as soon as I figure out how to fix the sound (I looked at the videos last night, and there’s a lot of echoing and whirring-of-hairdryers).
I’m totally passionate about the treatment, and honestly feel that it changed my life. I know that might sound silly (I am just talking about hair, of course)…but it’s freed up so much time that I used to spend wrestling with my hair for other things, like husband-and-puppy-cuddling. Oh, and see that hand gesture I’m making up there? That’s me describing what my hair looked like pre-Keratin treatment (hint: large) if it was even the slightest bit damp outside.
Treatment generously comped by salon.
With my sleepy husband at Aja Bistro & Lounge, where we ate dinner with the (relatively) newly affianced couple (Parisa & Tim) and the (very) newly wed couple (Mikha & Edwin).
I would like to take a moment here to comment on the unbelievable transition that my hair has undergone since I was fortunate enough to sample Doug Macintosh’s Keratin Treatment at the John Sahag Workshop. Seriously, I have never in my life had hair like this. I have crappy hair: it breaks, it frizzes…it does everything that I don’t want it to do. But in the week or so since I had the treatment, my hair is perfection. Here’s how it behaves:
Air-drying: I used to have a bit of a lioness poof whenever I air-dried my hair. My mom loved it; no one else did. Now, if I let my hair air dry, it forms into perfect, smooth waves with textured ends that falsely speak of generous product application.
Blow-drying: It takes about half the time now, and instead of ending up with poofy, frizzed-out hair that requires a go-over with the flat iron, I have smooth, healthy-looking tresses that not only don’t require an iron…but require nothing at all. My Frizz-Ease has gone on hiatus.
