All this talk about pickles got me craving some desperately, so I just took a quick run over to a store on First Ave that I’ve been meaning to visit ever since we moved to the neighborhood: Pickles, Olives, Etc.
I bought a large container of their “New Pickles” (very mild half-sours) and some Turkish black olives…and have already consumed an uncomfortable amount of both. Next time I hit the store, I plan on sampling their marinated mushrooms and pickled tomatoes (I used to love the plates of pickled tomatoes that they set out at every table at Jerry’s Deli, in Los Angeles).
You can order lots of different fabulous-looking (and presumably fabulous-tasting) products from the Pickles, Olives, Etc. website, including dried figs, sauerkraut, and peppadews…and they even have some fun gift baskets (I like this one).
