This poncho is so good it makes me do my Serious Face.
Some majorly fun discoveries this weekend.
On Saturday, our friends Erin (you have to check out Erin’s crafting blog and Pinterest; more on that later because the girl has the coolest ideas ever) and Kyle told us to meet them up in Peekskill for brunch and record-store exploring and potentially go-karts. Obviously this one was a yes.
We started out at a “craft beer gastropub,” Birdsall (oh my god, the lentil cake…and trust me, “lentil cake” is not something I ever pictured myself saying “oh my god” about): everything was good, but Kendrick ordered Nutella and bacon french toast made out of…
…
BANANA BREAD. Which clearly made him the big winner for that particular meal.
Next stop: Bruised Apple Books, which looked like what I would really like my living room to look like one day (big velvet chairs and tasseled lamps and books from floor to ceiling), for records and dinosaur books and beanie babies for every kid whose parents make a purchase.
And then…oh, then.
GO-KARTS.
Well, not exactly. There was also a bouncy house, which meant that our son could not go anywhere but there. For two hours (with a momentary departure to check out the motorcycle racing game). But still: there were go-karts right next to us, so that was pretty exciting.
I’m telling you: if you have kids or if you do not, you need to go to this place. It’s in Mount Kisco, and is worth the drive because it has not just the aforementioned go-karts and bouncy castle, but also an arcade, bowling, this crazy game where you have to avoid lasers while doing your best Catherine Zeta Jones-in-Entrapment impression, and a full bar (which made the two hours we spent standing next to that bouncy castle quite a lot of fun).
(We’ll go-kart next time.)
On Me: Forever21 Poncho & Jeans; Rogan Studded Lace Boots ℅ Frye; Splendid Shirt; LAGOS Ring; Becker Crossbody ℅ Foley & Corinna; Tom Ford Carrie Sunglasses (top) and Saint Laurent Bold 1 Sunglasses (bottom).
On Indy (who doesn’t usually get outfit credits because he’s three, but whatever: I thought his outfit that day was super cute): Crocs Rain Boots (worn daily, irrespective of the actual weather outside); RUUM Henley and Jeans; Gap Puffy Coat (which I like even better – and wish I had bought – in brown).
P.S. For those of you in the NYC area, Peekskill is another one of those easy day trips from the city – just take the MetroNorth from Grand Central and walk (or cab) to town from the station. Definitely worth some wandering.
