Legendary makeup artist Pat McGrath has teamed up with LeSportsac to offer a new pro makeup bag collection inspired by CoverGirl’s LipPerfection lip color shades. The collection includes 8 pieces, ranging from a small case that holds five lipsticks ($25) to an enormous, fancy “Professional Carry-All” ($120).
At the launch event, held on the very glamorous and very model-infused (I felt short) rooftop of the Mondrian New York, we ate Twizzlers, drank summery cocktails (others said that the Cucumber Coolers were quite extraordinary; I thought my club soda was just spectacular), and checked out the view.

And Olivia Munn (wearing Alice & Olivia, pictured above with her stylist) was there! She was lovely.
Here’s the LipPerfection collection – I immediately gravitated towards the classic red circled above (“Hot Passion”). Love the color, but the best part is that it has a ton of moisture so as to avoid the day-after-dryness issue that often goes hand-in-hand with matte lipstick (I wore it last night, and my lips are A-OK today).
I haven’t been wearing red lipstick as much as I used to, but now that summer’s back I think I’ll start doing the almost-bare eye (just sheer pink shadow and mascara)/red lip again.

Serious red. It takes a bit of getting used to, but I actually love this look for daytime. Very glamorous.
If that’s too high-drama for you, try just patting it onto your lower lip with a fingertip, and then pressing your lips together to create a soft, smudgy effect.
