20 New Year’s Eve Dresses For Under $100 (Really)

Broke after the holidays, but still looking for something fun to wear this New Year's Eve? No matter where you're headed - a cozy at-home celebration, a dance party, or somewhere a bit more floor-length-gown-requiring, I've got you covered.

My personal favorites: the white off-the-shoulder sweater dress and that long-sleeved velvet number…although I wouldn't throw a one-sleeved floor-length animal-print out of bed, on New Year's Eve or ever.

Best part: all of the dresses pictured above are under a hundred bucks, and they are GOOD. (Just remember to hit that "overnight shipping" button during checkout, because all that sparkle is too pretty to waste.)

Christmastime In These Parts

We're leaving for Ohio for a few days tomorrow, so today is all about making sure those turkey leftovers don't go to waste. (I'm in charge; so far, so good.) Also packing. And maybe seeing Big Hero 6 again, because it's amazing (seriously, even if you don't have kids: go).

Also snuggling with my new blanket from Woolrich and my new buddy from my Dad.

Let’s Talk 2015

Something new I'm trying out this year: a quick survey that'll help me learn what you liked (and didn't like) over the past year, and what you'd like to see more (and less) of in 2015. Click here to check it out (you can answer the questions anonymously if you want - and remember to submit a reader question if you have one!).

Thank you so much! Excited to hear what you have to say.

Happy Friday!

Crafts for the Uncrafty

Dipped Thrift-Store Paintings

You know what no one buys at thrift stores?

The artwork. Seriously, no one: in every thrift store that I've ever been to, the corners are piled with stacks of forlorn-looking faded prints of, like, fruit. Maybe some dancing kids, or a vase of flowers. And because nobody buys them, ever, they're usually in the realm of a buck or two each.

I generally take a peek at the stacks of paintings and posters to see if any of them happen to have really good frames that I can repurpose…but then I saw the below photo on Pinterest and was all: OOOH.

I legit cannot stop crafting. I am also aware that RG is not a crafting blog exactly, but I can't help it: must share. So many ridiculous handmade whatsits coming up. So many!

The look on Angelina Jolie's face when she ran into one of the Sony execs who slammed her in those leaked emails is EVERYTHING.

You have to hear how much Pharrell made for downloads of "Happy." It's depressing, mostly because it makes you think about what musicians who are not Pharrell make. ...Can somebody fix this, please?

My Looks

Bright Lights

Friday night was epic and meandering. And so for this post, I shall meander epically. To be thematic, you know.

OK, so whenever Francesca is in town I move earth and sea in order to find a way to hang out with her for real - not the way I usually hang out, which is by going somewhere for a drink and then panicking that it's SO LATE (meaning 7 P.M.), because I am old like a tortoise and exhausted. No, I mean hanging out like we used to: sitting in bars and talking for hours and laughing until we cry and then getting pizza afterwards because we've got nowhere else to be.

Friday night Kendrick and Indy stayed at home and I took Goldie into the city to hang with my mom so Francesca and I could go out like we haven't gone out in years. (Or…well, we went out like this in L.A. a couple of years ago, but I ended up clinging to the DJ booth like it was a life preserver because I was too tired to stand up anymore, and the night ended with the DJ actually telling me that I really needed to let go because I looked so weird, so this night was arguably more successful. Except I fell. In a gutter. We'll talk about that in a moment.)
