The plan had been to watch the Oscars – or at least the red carpet part – at our friends’ place, but an early-to-sleep baby switched the night’s activity to Beef & Beer Stew on the couch. Which was fun, too, and let me make expressions like this without anyone seeing them (until…now, I suppose).
The tall drinks of water pictured above get the Number One spot not because of their outfits…but because of this photo, and the whole owning-it thing happening here. Look at them. Brad’s expression! Angelina’s leg!
Oh, these two.
This is my for-real #1 Best Dressed: I love that Michelle Williams (in Louis Vuitton) captured the spirit of the film for which she was nominated without looking costume-y in the slightest. This is a dress that was gorgeous in photos, but spectacular in motion – the way the skirt moved when she walked was stunning.
Gwyneth Paltrow (in Tom Ford) couldn’t have looked more head-to-toe perfect, and the only reason why she wasn’t my hands-down favorite of the night was because Gold-and-White Goddess-In-A-Sheath is a look we’ve seen on her (also to gorgeous effect) before.
I was also crazy about Octavia Spencer (in Tadashi Shoji) and Rose Byrne (in Vivienne Westwood) – Octavia’s look was drop-dead gorgeous, and even though Rose’s dress was more Cocktail Party than Showbiz’s Biggest Night, I just love the elegant, unexpected shape. And her hair.
Who would you pick as Best Dressed of the night?
