This jacket is one of the handful of items that I would save from the house in a fire (other shortlisted items include anything breathing, my computer, and my jewelry box). My mother bought it in the ’60s with $200 that her grandmother left her after she died, and even though it doesn’t quiiiite fit me, it’s my favorite item of clothing in the world. There’s a butterfly imprint on the left shoulder! And fringe. And a sort of tail in the back (see lower photo). And most of all: it belonged to my mom.
I rarely wear button-downs because I usually find them sort of stiff and uncomfortable, but the DVF Risi is a silk blend and very light, so there goes that problem. For the weekend, I like the blouse with enormous jewelry, casual bellbottom jeans (rips are fine…even encouraged), and a bag big enough to carry home anything I may find on my wanderings.
On me: Vintage leather jacket, Diane Vintage Collection Risi Top in Camo Small c/o DVF, Ann Taylor necklace c/o Ann Taylor, Hudson Oxford Signature boot-cut jeans, Jessica Simpson Sabina platforms in Luggage, Aleanto Collezioni bag from TJ Maxx.
