I don’t mind rain, really. I used to hate how it frizzed up my hair, but that hasn’t been a problem since I’ve become a Keratin convert. And more than anything, rain chills me out and makes me want to curl up on the couch with my husband, my dogs, and maybe some ANTM, which is nice. The only things about rain that make me crazy are 1) walking the dogs in it (Virgil turns into a mudball and Lucy takes one step out the door before letting me know in not-moving form that she’d really prefer to stay inside, thanks), and 2) the fact that I don’t own any even vaguely rain-appropriate (or, for that matter, snow-appropriate) footwear.
My feet, at present (I just got home from lunch), are extremely soggy and cold. Which sucks.
I’ve been thinking about getting a pair of Hunter Wellies, because I think we can all agree that they’re quite classic and neat-looking…but I don’t love how flats look with bulky winter coats, and I don’t want to have to forego height every single time it rains/snows/is generally crappy out for the next five months.
Anyway. I spotted these boots at the Dr. Martens store that just opened on Spring Street (it carries every single style imaginable and is pretty neat; if you live in the city you should check it out)…and they seem perfect. Waterproof, with just a bit of a heel, and excellent traction for slippery city streets.
I love them, and might need to buy them. What do you think? Any other rainboots out there that you particularly like?
