Greenhorn Ranch | Quincy, CA
Whenever you travel, you end up forgetting something. On last week’s trip to Greenhorn Ranch, in Northern California, that thing ended up being two things: my shampoo and conditioner, specifically. Which are unfortunate things to forget, especially when you find yourself essentially in the middle of nowhere and in the company of realllly a lot of dust and sun and other things that tend to dry out already super-dry hair like mine.
So what I decided to do for the week was go next-level with the haircare routine I wrote about a few weeks ago, and try to get even more volume and waves into my (already pretty voluminous and wavy) hair.
I’ve tried out mousse from time to time over the years, but it’s always seemed like a very “style-y” product to me – the kind of thing you use when you’re going to prom, not going to lunch. But I had brought some Nexxus Mousse Plus Volumizing Foam with me on this vacation because I just got my hands on some a few days ago and wanted to play around with it, so I figured I’d give it a shot and see how it would handle my mane during a week sans both cleansing and heat-styling.
And?
UMMMMM it’s amazing. Like, weightless and long-lasting. and leaves your hair all soft and bouncy but not frizzy. I’ve never been able to make my hair look as piecey and full as it does with this mousse – and certainly not without any other styling assistance at all – and I am now all about this whole summery waves thing.
What I did to get this look:
- Forgot my shampoo and conditioner at home. Got annoyed about this, then got over it.
- Wet down my hair with plain water, toweled it dry, and then combed through a golf-ball-sized amount of mousse to give it totally weightless volume.
- Applied Nexxus Split End Restoring Leave-In Creme to my ends to repair split ends. Enriched with concentrated, 100% Elastin Protein and Flax Seed Oil, it binds and smooths broken hair fibers.
…And then I just let it dry all on its lonesome, and about half an hour of ignoring my hair later: waves.
No shampoo and conditioner? Apparently no problem…so long as you don’t also forget to pack a couple of genius products from Nexxus. (Forgetting to pack everything hair-care related is another post altogether, and one I’m sure I’ll get around to at some point because I am in the full throes of mom brain over here.)
