Saturday In The Park With…Energy

OK, first, it must be said: damn, are our dogs brats when they get together. Morgan and I headed out this morning with picnic ingredients in hand, anticipating a lovely, luxurious day of strawberries and sun, and we got…madness. Utter madness. And mud.

Extremely cute and fun, of course, just perhaps more “exciting” than “relaxing.”

For our picnic lunch, Morgan brought almond-olive oil pound cake (way more delicious than it sounds), tiny brownie cupcake-things, berries, and marscapone. I contributed water bottles filled with homemade guava sangria (oh man, are you ever going to love this recipe – I’ll post it ASAP) and Brie & apple sandwiches.

BRIE & APPLE SANDWICH

1. Layer Brie (shoot for the best quality you can afford and load it on) and thinly sliced green apple on a baguette. You can also add a few slices of turkey, if you like.

2. Drizzle with a little honey or honey mustard and toast in a sandwich press (optional).

After approximately four hours, the kids calmed down for long enough to pose for a photo.

See? Perhaps less-than-peaceful, but certainly beyond adorable.
