Did you know that Burlington Coat Factory is a virtual treasure chest of incredibly affordable (mostly under $10) baby clothing? Mom and I headed over there on Sunday to find a gift for my cousin Tina’s 8-month-old and something for my Nanny Ruth (we’re flying to Canada for her 91st birthday in a couple of weeks)…and I left with a bunch of stuff, including this:
How cute is that? (I don’t think my cousin reads here, so no spoiler worries ;).)
After Burlington, we wandered into Limelight Marketplace: a wildly cool cathedral space in what was once the Limelight Nightclub (and before that, a church), and which is now a collection of interesting local brands mixed in with boutiques like LeSportSac and Hunter.
Still on a buying-for-baby kick, I sampled Om Aroma’s lavender-infused organic baby oil, which would be perfect for adults, as well (a little massaged onto the chest and neck just before bed would be heaven).
The Marketplace also has a great food section, with everything from gelato to fancy cheeses and meats to…
…wait for it…
GRIMALDI’S PIZZA. In a location that does not require me to travel to Brooklyn and then wait in the cold for up to two hours. So going this weekend. Or tomorrow.
I also loved these whoopie pies from Wanna Hava Cookie – the red velvet flavor was much creamier and moister than others I’ve had (other flavors include chocolate with mint filling, chocolate with peanut butter filling, and pumpkin with maple filling). I chatted with the proprietor for a bit, and found out that they do lots of event catering, and even make cute mini versions perfect for weddings and showers.
