:) We’re going to have to talk more extensively about this sweatshirt later, because it’s that good, but in the meantime: here you go. (I bought it in a size large, FYI.)

:) My friend Erin just finished an epic 10-day journey across the US with her six-month-old, and wrote about what she learned about parenting from the three mothers who she stayed with (myself included). This post had me in tears.

:) You can’t ever have too many of these.

:) God, do weddings ever bring out the drama. Pretty much everyone here was in the wrong, but holy overreaction, batman. (Bride Sends Tacky Bill To The Parents Who Bailed On Her Child-Free Wedding, via Mommyish.)

:) I have located the single most impractical shoes in the world. I want them desperately. (They are only available in a size five. Can somebody else please buy them and show me where in god’s name you would possibly wear them?)

:) All summer long I wore so little makeup that when my son saw me in lipstick the other day he asked me why I was dressed up as a princess. But now that it’s fall I’m feeling color, and am all of a sudden reigniting my romance with this insanely cool eyeshadow palette. (Even if you think big color isn’t your thing, for real: it’s just the most amazing bunch of colors to have on hand for when the mood hits.)IMG_8468

:) This candle smells like geranium and joy, and every time I’m burning it and someone walks into my house I get the “What is that AMAZING SMELL?!” response that’s basically why I burn candles in the first place.

:) You obviously need a really good vest for fall. This one is super cute. And sherpa-lined. And very on sale.

:) Regardless of how you feel about Amber Rose (or if how you feel about her is “I don’t,” which is completely valid; I’m on the same boat), she did a cool thing with that SlutWalk. (Read my own thoughts on slut-shaming here.)

:) Can someone explain to me how in the world anyone wears these things without losing them immediately? I like them, but I feel like buying one would be the equivalent of balling up a wad of bills and throwing them out the window of a moving vehicle.

glam camp baby

:) @keelayjams made glam | camp a Twitter commercial, and if this isn’t evocative of pineapple-covered baby bibdanas, I don’t know what the hell is.

:) Related: A reader wanted to know which is my favorite of our bibdanas. This one, I think. Because I kind of want one myself.

:) The shape of this is perfect. And it’s $14. Old Navy, you did good!

:) Every time I read anything about Demi Lovato, I end up liking her more. (Demi Lovato’s Spontaneous, Nude, Makeup-Free Photo Shoot, via Vanity Fair – NSFW.)

:) Fun opportunity for someone looking to live in NYC for a bit and get a whole bunch of writing experience: TimeOut is looking for a blogger to write about all things New York, and they’ll pay your rent and stuff (for six months, at least). You can enter the contest here.

:) I love the classic preppiness of this bag, and think it’s perfect for a fall wear-everywhere pick. (Also FYI you can get 15% off at Macy’s using the code READY through the 27th.)

jordan reid podcast

:) If you missed my podcast in which I talked the business of blogging and being pregnant on the Internet (among many other things) on Spirit of 608, you can check it out here.

:) I have extremely mixed feelings about the hullaballoo surrounding this whole “Pinktober” thing. On the one hand: obviously increased awareness is good. And obviously companies donating proceeds (in whole or in part) to charity is good, regardless of their motivations (whether benevolent or sales-driven). But seeing Buy this pink thing! Or this one! Pink! Pink! Pink! in every magazine I open all month long…it feels like the commercialism has gotten WAY out of hand, and taken the focus off of the reality of living with the disease. This article sums up my feelings nicely. (Please Put That Can Of Pink Soup Down And Put Your Bra On, via HuffPo.)

:) Ahhh such a cute fall jacket. And on sale!

:) On Fast Company, I was interviewed about how to model the appropriate use of smartphones and tablets for my kids given that so much of my livelihood depends on their use. The truth? I’m not great at achieving anything even approaching balance, and that’s something I feel guilty about every day. (How To Teach Your Kids About Screens When Screens Are Your Job, via Fast Company.)

:) This woman is my spirit animal and this video is my favorite thing I have seen in forever. (Woman In Labor Does The Nae Nae, via The Root.)
