On the menu for Tuesday afternoon: Kristin Cavallari’s NFL + Junk Food show over at Style360.
What I wore for my foray into the city: a couple of Favorite New Pieces (that LOFT vest and my I.N.C. faux-leather pants) and a coral Botkier bag (which I also toted along to a meeting earlier that day with designer Monica Botkier, pictured above). In retrospect, not the best choice for 80-degrees-and-humid…but it was cloudy and rainy when I left in the morning, and I was in such a rush that I just grabbed what I saw and ran for the train.
I’ve been a fan of Junk Food’s vintage-inspired tees for years, and this capsule collection was intended to integrate Kristin’s personal style and “NFL elements” into the brand’s casual-cool vibe. Now, I’m aware that that whole concept sounds a little confusing (or at least it certainly did to me), but it actually ended up making sense visually: the collection was basically a mashup between runway shapes and athletic styles, and was the kind of thing you could see a sporty party girl – like Kristin herself – wearing to the after (after) party following the game.
I attended on behalf of Sabra, the show’s sponsor (and also the Official Dips Sponsor of this year’s NFL season), which meant I spent a bunch of time camped out with my friend Andrea (who I brought as my guest) eating their very delicious hummus.
My personal favorite flavor, in case you were wondering, is Luscious Lemon: a flavor that is so wonderful that it has been discussed on Ramshackle Glam not once, not twice, but three times…and that very sadly does not appear to be sold at the supermarket near my home. I am certain of this because I look for it every single time I go, because it is just that good.
Oh yes: and there was a cat. (I know I look very nervous and awkward here; that’s because the moment before this photo was taken the Official Cat Handler told me not to pet the cat’s tail – the tail that I was at that very moment petting – because he “gets crabby.”)
Fashion Week cats appear to be a recurring theme in my life.
Above, two looks from the collection: it mixed together girly clothing (rhinestones! crop tops! metallics!) with sporty standards like athletic stripes, logos and shoulder pads…and was all sent down the runway to a chorus of stadium cheers.
Thanks so much to Sabra for having me!
