Are you contemplating getting the man in your life a shaving kit this Christmas? Perhaps a stylish scarf? Then whoa, are you reading the wrong list. Because you know what this list is about?
TOYS. (For grown-up – or, possibly more accurately, “grown-up” – boys.)
“But he probably hasn’t played with toys in decades. Isn’t that a total waste of money? Also: how do I know what to get him?”
First off: of course he loves toys. It’s genetic. To help you pick the perfect gift for the guy in your life, the only question you need to ask is this:
What did he play with when he was a for-real boy?
If he played with: RC Cars…
Get him: A Parrot Rolling Spider Mini Drone. Jordan thinks this idea is completely bizarre, but trust me: there is no man alive who would not want to find a drone under the Christmas tree. A drone! This one’s under a hundred bucks, you can control it with your smartphone, and it can take pictures. (Comes with a complimentary existential crisis about the individual’s safety in the coming century.)
If he played with: G.I. Joe…
Get him: A Cam Nerf Gun, which has a scope camera so he can record the looks on his victim’s faces the moment before he strikes down upon them with great vengeance and furious anger:
If he played with: Slingshots…
Get him: A projectile launcher. This style is totally acceptable (and avoids comparisons to Dennis the Menace) at any grown-up party:
If he played with: Devil Sticks…
Get him: A pen flipper. From businessman to Iceman, every man loves flipping stuff. Take your man’s pen-flipping to the next level with this butterfly knife pen.
If he played with: Star Wars action figures…
Get him: Oh, just get him a light saber. This is going to make his life. The entire beam is visible (not just the dot) which makes everything from presentations to Death Star duels wayyy cooler.
OK, now it’s Jordan back to say that if you’re anything like me and don’t plan on purchasing your boyfriend or husband a Nerf gun, my suggestions (which, yes, include a stylish scarf):
The coolest audio equipment ever, seriously grown-up accessories (including foldable sunglasses, a postmodern bracelet-watch minus the watch, and an iconic flask), and cologne inspired by his favorite beverage.
