OK, so yesterday was pretty amazing. Why?
It included the following:
– A tour of Isaac Mizrahi’s studio;
– Lunch at the Time Inc. offices;
– An exclusive preview of Isaac’s newest collection (which one RG winner will be going home with in its entirety in October – stay tuned for giveaway details).
Not bad.
I admit: when I first heard the whole fashion-collection-inspired-by-a-car thing I didn’t really get it…but it’s actually a really original, exciting concept. In short, it speaks to the fact that the 2013 Chevy Malibu is safe and practical and all those “responsible” things that make it a smart purchase…but also, when it comes down to it, it’s the kind of vehicle that makes sense on an emotional level, just because it’s so much fun.
And smart matters…but fun matters, too.
(Seriously, guys, it’s so much fun to drive. I will be very sad about handing the keys back over next week.)
Beyond designing the collection, Isaac is also driving a Malibu cross-country to meet a series of inspirational women, tour their closets, and offer fashion advice…and then he’s partnering up with LivingSocial to release a line based entirely on the 2013 Chevy Malibu (the collection will be available for sale Oct 16).
You know what my major takeaway from the studio tour was? Isaac is basically the most charming human being on the face of the earth, and – no surprise, here – has some fantastic fashion advice to offer women of all ages.
Take for example, this video, in which he talks closet essentials. (I promise, I wouldn’t ask you to watch this if it wasn’t totally great; I think these are really fun, non-run-of-the-mill tips, and especially love that Isaac gives it to you straight. I would really love to take him shopping with me. Maybe one day.)
