You know my friend Morgan?
If you’ve been reading here for more than a couple of months I’m sure you do; Morgan and I were pregnant at the same time, and she and her husband and son lived just a few blocks away from us on the UES. We were with them pretty much constantly for years, until all of us ended up moving out of the city (again, at pretty much exactly the same time as each other, albeit to different coasts).
It was an incredible experience, being able to share all of those enormous life changes with one of my very best friends in the world. And I miss her so much.
Even more now that she’s got another baby on the way – a girl this time (which means that there are shopping trips involving tutus in my future). I wish I could be right there next to her sharing this experience as well…but for now I’ll have to settle for phone calls.
And photos.
Glowing!
In these photos, Morgan’s wearing Fourth Love, a maternity line that she recently discovered and that I wanted to introduce to those of you who might be expecting as well. Designer Susan Cho started the line in the midst of her second pregnancy in an effort to create comfortable maternity wear that women would be able to wear over the course of (and even after) their pregnancies.
I’m completely on board with this: so many of the dresses, sweaters and tees that I wore while pregnant continued to be a part of my wardrobe even after I gave birth; of course they fit me completely differently than they did when I was expecting, but still: I never liked the idea of buying something (expensive) that would fit for two weeks and then boom: your body is different, or your priorities have shifted, and into storage it goes. What I do love: the idea of choosing affordable pieces in fabrics that flatter your figure while it changes over the months…and then offer comfortable solutions for running around after a newborn.
Love love love.
