Isn’t this photo a dream?!
My friend Elise (the owner of the children’s boutique where we threw the glam | camp launch event on Saturday) held a birthday party for her 6-year-old daughter this weekend, and it was so gorgeously done I had to ask her if I could take a few shots to show you. I love this whole setup for a little girl’s party, of course, but with a few little tweaks it would also make for a beautiful bridal or baby shower.
Decor:
- A lovely photo area with the simplest concept ever: a single garland of flowers hung on a wood wall (pictured above).
- A Midsummer’s Night Dream vibe in the garden, created by hanging a tulle canopy from the tree and scattering around blankets and pillows.
- Clear jars and vases filled with firefly lights and faux flowers to decorate the food station.
Food:
- A donut hole tower (instructions here).
- Watermelon stars made with cookie-cutters and set out in a loaf pan (this is genius: it both keeps the fruit slices nice and neat and allows the pretty color to show through).
- Mini-cups of kettle corn (try TomKat for cute single-serving cups) – I did this at Goldie’s first birthday party, and everybody loves them.
Activities:
- A wand-making station (this is so cute and so easy; just glue cardboard star cutouts to sticks, and place glue pots and little bowls of glitter and crystals and such around the table);
- And, of course…a bouncy castle. (Seriously, for those of you with kids: if you’ve never done the bouncy-castle birthday thing, it’s SO GOOD. Mostly because it keeps virtually all of the children occupied and in the confines of what amounts to a very large pillow for the duration of the festivities.)
P.S. If you live in the Bay Area, have a party in your future, and would rather have someone else assemble the donut tower and hang your adorable net tent, Elise also runs a party-planning business; you can find her on Thumbtack.
