All The Halloween-y Snack Ideas You Could Possibly Want

Forgive me, please…because you’re about to be hit with an avalanche of Halloween-related content. Honestly, though, I feel 100% entitled to milk my son’s Halloween-themed birthday party for every single last itty-bitty drop of content, because over the years, truly: I have DESTROYED these events.

Like, KILLED THEM DEAD.

(You know: ifIdosaysomyself.)

Remember when I had that epiphany that I should just do Safeway cupcakes and pizza for birthday parties and call it a day so I could actually enjoy myself? Something about my kids reaching an age where Halloween could actually be, you know, scary – it inspired me to go full-on Pinterest Mom and spend a few years making All The Spooky Snacks. And these discoveries are so easy – swear – that I still make them every year, even though I am much, much lazier now.

First up: A Roundup of Creepy Bites (click “Check Out The Post” next to each pic to go to the how-to).

1/6

Bloody Band-Aids

I cannot take credit for inventing this one – I found it on Pinterest – but I wish I could, because it’s genius, costs next-to-nothing, and takes about five seconds (not counting the twenty minutes I spent hunting for a box of Band-Aids to add the all-important finishing touch).

2/6

Popcorn Ball "Bloody Brains"

Ew. I know. But Bloody Brains score extremely high on the effort/impact scale: they take just a few minutes to make, and everybody will have something to say about them. (That something will probably be “ew.”)

3/6

"Puking Pumpkin" Guacamole

Obviously you need to make a puking pumpkin this Halloween. If you click through to the post, you’ll find a whole bunch of ideas ranging from the basic to the utterly horrifying.

4/6

Worms 'N' Dirt

Now THIS is the kind of dessert I could have gotten on board with as a kid: Oreos that have been decimated to the point where total potential cookie intake is maximized like whoa.

5/6

Lollipop Ghosts

The hardest part of making these was keeping my children from eating all of the lollipops quicker than I could wrap them up.

Bonus: These work both as party favors and as decor.

6/6

Mac 'N' Cheese Pumpkin Cups

Draw on the little faces in advance, and whip up the (boxed, please) macaroni day-of, and you have a perfectly portable mini-meal.
