I’ve never been shy about trying out various cosmetic procedures and sharing the results here – you’ve seen me give everything from BBL lasers to microdermabrasion a shot. (Not to mention The Boobs.) I make a point of sharing about this topic – which many people would probably consider too personal to speak about publicly – for a very specific reason: I hate the fact that our culture tells women that they have to appear ageless, while simultaneously shaming them for not achieving said agelessness without help.
So. *Should* you undergo a cosmetic procedure? Of course not. But if you want to?
No shame.
Now that I have that off my chest: Let’s talk PDO Threads. I’ve been hearing about them for awhile, but what put me over the edge was, frankly, 2020.
…Anyone else feel like the past eight months have aged them a solid ten years?

You can see the results for yourself in the video above, but I wanted to address a few FAQs for anyone who might be considering trying this themselves.
What does the procedure entail? The certified provider inserts extremely fine threads at various points in your face based on her estimation of where you could benefit from added collagen and/or tightening. These threads create an immediate (albeit minimal) tightening effect, but as they dissolve over the next few months they restore collagen to your face in the targeted areas.
Who is this for? PDO Threads are specifically targeted at the late 30s/early 40s demographic, where aging is only juuuuust beginning to show on the face. In other words, if you have substantial sagging or wrinkling, this is likely not going to be especially effective for you.
How much does it cost? Prices vary pretty substantially depending on where you live, where you go for the procedure, and how many threads are used, but tend to range between $700 and $4500. At CosmetiCare, the base price is $1500 for the lower face (which is what I did) and $1500 for the upper face, but can increase if additional threads are needed. (Disclosure: Because CosmetiCare is an RG partner, I did not pay for the procedure. …Would I, though? 1000%.)
Does it hurt? You’re numbed in advance of the procedure, so it doesn’t *hurt*, per se…but to call it comfortable would be a reach. I got a little nauseated early on and had to take a break, so if you’re an anxious person about stuff like this, I’d definitely recommend taking a mild sedative (and then having someone drive you home afterwards).
How long does it last? This will vary from person to person, but generally speaking results last 18 months or more.
