This morning, Dad and I got up at 4:30AM to head out to Sheepshead Bay for some fishing aboard the Sea Queen VII ($35/each + tip for a half day). Apparently the boats are really feeling the effects of the economy this summer, so if you live in the area, I highly encourage you to take a morning to head over to the Bay for some fishing – the boats are staffed by some absolutely wonderful people, and it’s an incredibly relaxing way to start your day.
And yeah, you’re seeing right. Against every single odd in the world, I CAUGHT A FISH. Three, actually! Which is more or less the sum total of every single previous fishing excursion I’ve ever been on in my life. None of the fish I caught were large enough to take home (they have to be at least 21″, and I think that one up there is only 13″ or so), but still: feeling quite accomplished at the moment.
Not as accomplished as Dad, though: he caught nine (!). And, oddly, a starfish:
