Last night I went into the city for a dinner meeting, and all my favorite prints came with me (that’s a NYDJ shirt, a Juicy Couture skirt, and the INC vest I was raving about on Tuesday).
Leopard and stripes = totally not as weird a combo as you’d think.
The keys:
1) Keep all the other colors in your outfit neutral (to me, red is a neutral, but you may not agree; if you prefer, keep all your extras in the brown/black/grey spectrum);
2) Try adding a solid item to break up the prints (for example, separating leopard shoes and a striped top with a solid-color pair of jeans);
3) Skip the brightly colored leopard prints in favor of ones that actually look like they could have belonged to an animal;
4) Keep all the shapes relatively streamlined (no ruffles, flounces or bows);
5) If you’re not totally on board with the look, try making sure that at least one pattern is an accessory (for example, pair a striped tee with a leopard bag).
