Interested in trying out lower-lid eyeliner, but in a more subtle way?
Me, too.
This is what I’ve been doing lately when I feel like going a little more dramatic than my usual top-lid-liner-only look.
1. Start with a sweep of pale shadow (beige or light pink) across the entire lid, and blend a medium-brown shade into the crease with a soft shadow brush.
2. Apply a thin swipe of brown-black liquid eyeliner to the entirety of the top lash line, widening the line at the outer edge and extending the point into a cat-eye, if you like.
3. Gently pull down on your lower eyelid with a fingertip and apply a soft kohl pencil (my favorite: Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil) to the outer 2/3 of the inner lid. You can extend the line all the way to the inner corner if you like – it’s a more dramatic look – but personally I find that this makes my eyes look smaller.
4. Using a small, flat brush with stiff bristles, apply a deep brown shadow to the outer 1/3 of your eye, just below your lower lash line (as pictured above). Make sure to blend well so that the effect is smudgy, not sharp.
5. Finish with lots of mascara.
