OK, so the other night I headed into the city for dinner with a couple of girlfriends at Da Mikele (oh, my gnocchi) followed by a screening of Hot Pursuit thrown by SheKnows, and I dressed in what amounts to a Jordan Uniform: slouchy grey thing and jeans. Plus earrings. You know, ’cause I was “out.”
And then I realized: you know what? It’s probably my last official Girl’s Night Out in the city for…well, I don’t know. Maybe forever. Certainly for awhile. And Sofia Vergara is in the movie, for goodness sakes. Sofia Vergara is a fancy, fancy lady.
So:
Silk overalls and heels it was.
(Shortly thereafter I discovered that overalls, silk or not, are not an especially attractive choice for red-carpet purposes because they make you look vaguely like a potato, but whatever. They also made me happy and accommodated really a lot of popcorn.)
Look at my lovely girls!
Speaking of lovely girls: can I just tell you that Sofia Vergara is a REVELATION? You know how they always say that it’s kind of hard for TV actors to make the leap to film for whatever reason? Not in this case. She was hysterical – like, every single word that came out of her mouth – and screen-commanding and compelling to watch and all the things that I suppose people are talking about when they say that TV actors don’t always make great film actors. (I also appreciate that she’s so obviously extremely smart, and references the assumptions that people make about her based on her looks in many of her roles – this one included – in a cool, biting way.)
Anyway, I love her.
(Also loved the popcorn.)
Hot Pursuit is in theaters nationwide May 8 (learn more on their website and Facebook page). Big thanks to SheKnows!
