I love this DIY: it’s easy, inexpensive, and can be used to decorate your home in a whole bunch of different ways. If you’re stuck at home due to the storm and in search of something to do this afternoon, it’s also likely that you’ll be able to improvise a few of these using stuff you already have laying around.
Try using Scary Terrariums as centerpieces for a Halloween-themed dinner table, lining a windowsill with them (that’s what I did), or putting LED tealights in them and using them to illuminate your walkway (creepy).
You start with a regular old Mason jar with a screw-on top (I used the oversized ones because I wanted to be able to incorporate some large-ish skeletons I’d found at Michaels).
Glue a little faux (or real) moss into the lid.
Add whatever decorations you have handy (I went for skeletons, twigs, and plastic spiders that give me major anxiety despite the fact that I am a grown adult and fully aware that they are not, in fact, real).
Screw on the top…
And add an LED tealight either inside the jar or beside it if you want a little extra atmosphere.
