Well, that was a year.
Not “a year”…a year. I mean, lots happened.
Style-wise I went from city girl to suburban mama, and my look chilled out accordingly (but still managed not to change all that much, because I’ve been a creature of slouchy habit since approximately 1981).
I used to occasionally wear skirts and dresses and, you know…clothing that people wear in public; now I reach for jeans and sweaters that could arguably double as pajamas. Or might actually be pajamas. You never know.
I used to be wedded to my heels; these days, I’m more likely to pull on a pair of snow boots.
I used to carry adorable little purses; I totally still do, thanks the presence of an actual, for-real station wagon (!) in my life that handily totes all my diapers and wipes and changes of clothing and little blinky toy things for me.
Here’s what happened on the RG style frontier in 2012…
{ Took it easy… }
{ Brightened up with Swarovski… }
{ Said good-bye to our old apartment with a Spring Preview shot for The Limited… }
{ Got freezy in Hell’s Kitchen… }
{ Underwent the aforementioned style makeunder… }
{ Let out my inner Tyra for Buffalo Jeans (click through the link to see what I mean)… }
{ Hit the road in snakeskin heels… }
{ Had a deep thought or two about fashion blogging and fancy-pants pictures… }
{ Went retro in possibly my favorite look ever for a rockabilly-themed JITH segment… }
{ Tried on crazy/amazing furry things for a Jones New York campaign… }
{ Hung out with InStyle Magazine and was so excited about it that I turned fifty shades of purple… }
{ Styled UGG Australia’s Fall 2012 campaign… }
{ Tried on millions of watches (and hostess gowns) as Timex’s Brand Ambassador… }
{ Channeled my inner leather-jackets-and-combat-boots girl while shooting a campaign with Old Navy… }
{ Covered Fashion Week for New York Magazine and Piperlime (while striking dramatic poses on my porch, of course)… }
{ Acted like a goofball for a red carpet moment while hosting an event during Fashion’s Night Out… }
{ Corralled my favorite mini-model (that would be Lucy) into posing with me for a series of fall looks for New York Magazine and Sorel… }
{ Went simple all weekend long for a series with TJ Maxx… }
{ Got witchy… }
{ Went more than a little Grey Gardens, and was totally OK about that… }
{ Wore fancy couture that I could never possibly afford in real life for an appearance on Better with Dove… }
{ Rhapsodized about hats (and rings, and earrings, and sweaters) with Joyus… }
{ Cozied up for the holidays… }
{ And had a personal Dreams Do Come True moment on a shoot for Cosmo. }
