Prior to last night, the most exciting things I’ve done on Fashion’s Night Out have been:
1) Buy a really seriously cool hat;
2) Get body-checked by Anna Wintour’s bodyguards.
And both of those things were fun, but last night? Funner.
I hosted an event for TrueFit at Macy’s, got to wear some very cute Else boyfriend jeans (I borrowed the blazer pictured above to go with them), and did things like show off my fancy new bangs on a fancy red carpet (I’m laughing in this shot because Debi Mazar was right on my heels…and guess who the photographers were psyched about spotting? Me! No, I’m kidding. Debi.)

What is TrueFit? Excellent question!
In a nutshell, TrueFit is a technology that tells you what brands will fit you best, and how to find your perfect fit. Basically, the company has compiled detailed specs for hundreds of clothing brands, and uses a patented algorithm to figure out how an item will fit you – and what size you should buy – without ever stepping foot in a dressing room (making it perfect for online shopping).
How it works: you fill out a one-time profile, telling TrueFit basic stats about yourself (height, weight, age, body type, etc). Then you tell the program about the pieces in your closet that you think fit you the very best (like, say, your favorite DVF dress or that great pair of Abercrombie jeans). Then, when you’re ready to shop, the program melds your info with the info they’ve compiled from clothing companies to tell you whether or not an item will fit you in the way you prefer and what size you should buy.
I know, it sounds like magic. But apparently what it comes down to is math.
