Family Circle Cup / Day 1

Since I was working a tennis tournament in the South, I figured I’d lean towards the conservative side of my wardrobe for apparel options. This was the best I could do:

Yep…almost the exact same outfit I wore to some meetings last week. When it comes to “professional” (ish) attire, I am decidedly uninventive…although I very much want a boyfriend-style blazer just like this one for mixing-it-up purposes. H&M is currently selling a similar version for $49 – I couldn’t find it online, but it is navy-and-white striped with gold accents and puffy shoulders, and it is so, so fab.

We shot two spots today, both sponsored by Mohawk Flooring. I’m not really a carpet girl (although I hear it’s making a bit of a comeback), but Mohawk’s stain-resistant carpeting is weird incredible. Today I watched ten hyperactive children “Bowl for Disaster,” sending neon-colored bottles of Gatorade cascading over huge swatches of snow-white Mohawk carpet…and apparently it’ll all be gone after a quick wash with water. WATER.

Like I said: weird incredible.

Above, Mike (who was the first Better cameraman I worked with, on the Butternut Squash Soup spot) is shooting me doing an intro (“I’m here in beautiful Charleston, South Carolina, at the Family Circle Cup” …etc).

Mid-afternoon, I interviewed HGTV’s Chip Wade, who not only has a really awesome name, but is also the kind of guy who actually elicits giddy “tee-hees” from every woman he encounters (Tara and I – both married ladies, mind you – concur on this). Maybe it’s the bald head/freckles combo? Too cute.

When we finally wrapped, I crawled back to the hotel for a long bath, a ribeye steak salad from room service, a glass of wine, a complimentary plate of chocolate-covered strawberries (!), and The Notebook. Basically, I turned into a parody of Girl Alone In Hotel Room…and I loved every second.
