Fall means pumpkin patches and amazing soups and cozy sweaters and long walks through the leaves…and it also means that things have to get switched up a little in the beauty department. We’re not in full wintertime dryness mode yet, but still: nothing like the present to start preparing for the Sahara-like conditions to come.
What this means for me:
1. Swapping out my light daytime moisturizer for a slightly richer product (Simple Skincare Replenishing Rich Moisturizer);
2. Making sure to exfoliate at least once every three days (an easy way to do this: incorporate exfoliation into my morning cleansing routine by alternating Smoothing Facial Scrub with the Moisturizing Facial Wash I used all summer);
3. Using a majorly nourishing moisturizer every night, and applying skin-soothing oils to my hands and cuticles (which tend to show signs of the seasonal moisture shift faster than any other part of my body).
4. Applying a weekly exfoliating mask (to chest as well as face) – this Antioxidant Radiance Mask is awesome for instantly making skin look revitalized and glowy.
Fall also means the return of slightly heavier eye makeup – I’m feeling the lower-lid eyeliner thing lately – which means stocking up on Eye Make-Up Remover (because I look tired enough these days without any additional help from a pair of raccoon eyes, thanks).
P.S. Just because we’re talking fall and skincare, this pumpkin soup is one of my all-time favorite recipes – it’s great for entertaining (serve it out of a hollowed pumpkin if you feel like being extra-impressive), and contains enzymes and alpha-hydroxy acids to increase cell turnover and brighten up skin.
